Dearest Seenies,
Happy Friday (at least here in the US)! It’s a pretty big day around the world as the 2012 Summer Olympics have kicked off in London. Thanks to our friends in the UK as you host the world for a short while.
This year’s games are sure to provide an exciting couple of weeks, and here at SeenTh.at we’re planning on providing some excitement of our own. Since we launched our BETA, we’ve been listening to your feedback and have some exciting updates coming over the next month or so, the first of which went live today. We’re calling it “Chatter/Lists 2.0,” and we think you’ll be happy about it.
Here are some of the ideas/suggestions we’ve heard since we launched the BETA:
- Movie posters in Chatter/Lists don’t always show titles, so there should be a title present somewhere on the tickets.
- Users intuitively want to click on the poster to get more information, but since the ticket “flips” to show actions on hover, that’s not possible. The “About Movie” link is hard to find at the bottom of that list of actions.
- The “flipping” of Chatter/List posters on hover is jolting and not smooth.
- Actions in search results and list view (where there is no poster present) require you to hover in order to see all of the actions. This can be an annoying user experience.
- Users should be able to tag a movie in any Chatter post, including news/links/quotes.
- When viewing a list in “grid view”, you have to hover over the ticket for a couple of seconds to get a “details” flyout. This felt clunky and annoying.
Another quick note, we also updated the “infinite scroll” code so that you can only load 3 “pages” of Chatter at a time. Doing so helps from having hundreds of Chatter tickets up at once, which can really hurt site performance overall. If you want to see older posts, just click the “Load more Chatter” bar when you reach the bottom of Chatter and it will load a new page. To get back to newer posts, just refresh the page or scroll back up to the top of Chatter and click the “Reload” button.
We hope you like what we’ve done. We’re excited to roll out several other updates we’re working on over the coming weeks.
Enjoy your weekend and go USA!

Let us know your thoughts on the update in the comments!

These are some seriously awesome improvements! Hooray for the entire the Seenth. At crew!
Love it!
So good to see the work you’ve done! I’m anxious for the site to go live.
These updates look great. Thanks!
Seems I commented a little too soon. The movie quotes now just show the movie titles, but backwards. I’m using Chrome, if that makes a difference.
Hmm, I’m using Chrome as well and not seeing any issues. Were they working and then not? Or have you had this issue from the start?
I like the website. I just started using it recently. I have a suggestion: when you are looking at what other people have seen, it would be awesome if you could sort it by ratings given by that particular user. That way you would know if they like the same movies you do, so you will know what to possibly watch if they have a movie rated highly that you have not seen yourself. Thanks
Great idea! We’ve got it on the list and will be sure to implement better sorting features soon. Keep the great ideas coming!
I’ll put my thoughts here because If I want to give feedback using the feedback button I have to sign up for something I don’t want to sign up too..
First of your site is awesome I’ve been trying to find something like this for ages! So I’m very happy to have found this!
Then a few ideas/suggestions, If you want to check the ratings of a particular film at one of your followers “seen list” and that person has seen a lot of movies you have to skip trough a lot of pages before you reach the desired movie, is it possible to make this easier?
Also, for me this site also is a log for when I’ve watched a movie, that’s why i write a review for every movie I watched since my sign up so I can keep track of the dates. But what you guys forget is that a lot of people re-watch a movie a lot of times, is it possible to implement a feature that keeps track of your rewatches?
And finally: When will the top 3 movies be implemented? That would be an awesome feature ( I can’t wait).
Keep up the amazing work!
Thanks so much Lars! Everything you’ve mentioned is something we’ve got planned for down the road. If you have any other thoughts, feel free to leave them here or you can email us directly at beta@seenth.at.

You doing a great work, and this site will be awesome, I can feel it! ;D
I was thinking about a feature where you could challenge yourself to watch a number of films during the year (like the reading challenge on goodreads) and then type in the date you saw the films and it would count. Is that possible? that could be cool.
Also maybe be able to write how many times you’ve seen each film so you can keep track of it yourself and see a list sorted by your ‘most watched films’ or something like that.
Great suggestions! Not only will we be rolling out the ability to check a movie off multiple times, but we also plan on giving users the ability to create custom lists of movies. One custom list you could create could be the challenge you mentioned.
